Who Can Participate

For 5-10 year olds in the United States

What Happens

This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Participate Now!” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. Children will see different people, animals, and things and be asked how much they care about each item by sorting them into different circles.

What We're Studying

This study asks children to sort different things based on how much they "care" about each item, which we are using as a way to measure moral concern. Children's moral concern for certain things, like family members and bullies/robbers, is already well documented. What is unknown, however, is how much moral concern children hold for other things, such as plants or systems in nature and food. This study aims to determine whether children "care" about such things, how much, and if there are any developmental changes in early childhood.
