Who Can Participate

For babies ages 14-16 months.

What Happens

Your baby will watch several short videos of a person giving food items to others. We want to see which sharing event your baby chooses to look at!

What We're Studying

We are interested in how babies expect things will be shared with others. Previous research has demonstrated that early on in life babies and toddlers expect that things such as items of food will be shared equally and fairly. For example, they might expect that a person would share four cookies equally between two people by giving them both two cookies instead of giving one three and the other person one cookie. We are interested in looking at similar sharing behaviors in the current study with the future goal of examining how relationship or friendship information between the sharer and the receivers might change children's expectations of sharing.

Duration

10-20 minutes

Compensation

Within one week of your participation, we’ll email you a $10 Amazon.com gift card as a thank-you. To be eligible for the gift card your child must be in the age range for this study, you need to submit a valid consent statement, we need to see that there is a child with you, and your child cannot have participated before in the study. We will send a gift card even if you do not finish the whole study or we are not able to use your child's data.
