SUPER Lab (Florida International University)
Who Can Participate |
Children between ages 33 to 40 months |
What Happens |
This study will take place on a video call, live with a researcher! Clicking on the “Participate Now!” button will send you to an online calendar where you can select a date and time that works for you. Your child will listen to stories and answer questions about stories to determine their eligibility during the screening call. If eligible, your child will complete 4 sessions over 3 weeks (for about 2.5 hours total). Your child will participate in a virtual live science show, listen to stories, and answer questions about the stories they listened to. We want to know how your child discusses what they did in the study over time, without talking to you about it in between sessions, and so we will ask you to focus on something else during the sessions (ideally, you will have music you can listen to on headphones, and something to read, during the session). |
What We're Studying |
Prior research shows that children's ability to discuss events is related to a number of different factors. Here we are trying to learn if we can help children improve their ability to discuss events by helping them with related skills. This study will help us understand how young children discuss events over time without the aid of an adult. |
Duration |
Screening - 30 minutes (if your child is eligible, the experimenter will ask to schedule further sessions with you at the end of the screening session) |
Compensation |
After the screening session, you will receive a $5 (USD) Amazon e-gift card in 1-2 weeks. After completing all Sessions 1 – 4, you will receive a $35 (USD) Amazon e-gift card plus a completion bonus of $10 (USD) Amazon e-gift card in 1-2 weeks. In total, if you complete the entire study, you will receive $50 (USD) in Amazon e-gift card. |
